My next two stops on the Fairy Tale Road were Kassel and Hamelin, Germany.
In Kassel, I explored an amazing park that had a giant statue of Hercules atop a hill that looked down onto the entire town. At the bottom of the hill was an art museum, that I unfortunately ran out time to visit. In the park there were many streams, a waterfall, and even a castle! The grounds were so gorgeous.
Gottingen, Germany is a university town. It is said that when students finish their studies and receive their degrees, they kiss the Mother Goose statue for good luck. Besides this, their beautiful Botanical Gardens were accessible to everyone in the town. It was one of many indicators to me that Germany really values nature and their environment.
